Report on recruitment demand and labor supply in Vietnam market in quarter 1/2017

Both recruitment demand and labor supply significantly increased
Based on the report, recruitment demand in quarter 1/2017 increased 23% compared to the same period in last year. Meanwhile, labor supply increased 38% compared to quarter 1, 2016.
In this quarter, top 5 industries which have the highest growth in recruitment demand are Electric/ Electronics (increased 67%) – Executive Officer/ Manager (increased 104%) – Construction (increased 46%) – PR/Advertising (increased 35%) and Customer Service (increased 51%).
In term of labor supply, compared to last year, the highest numbers of job application belong to Education – Electric/Electronics – Executive Officer/ Manager – Architecture/ Interior design and Customer Service.
IT industry leads the recruitment demand in this quarter

Administrative/Secretary – Accountant – Customer Service – PR/Advertising – Manufacturing – Architecture/ Interior design – Construction – Marketing – Sales.
According to the recent report of Navigos Search, the leading provider of executive search service in Vietnam and a member of Navigos Group, the recruitment demand on developers and engineers in embedded software significantly increased. However, there is a fact that the supply of qualified and experienced developers and IT engineers in Vietnam are not enough, the most difficulty is limited ability in English of this resource.
High competition on employment in urban area
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are 2 hottest locations for recruitment demand in the country. Followers in the top 5 are Binh Duong, Da Nang and Bac Ninh. Although standing in the 5th position, Bac Ninh is in top 3 in term of competition on employment with competition rate is 1/42. It means that every candidate in Bac Ninh has to compete with other 41 candidates to get a new job. This rate is even higher than Hanoi (1/38), Binh Duong (1/38) và Da Nang (1/37). Holding the 1st position in this segment is Ho Chi Minh with 1/46.
“The reason for the high rate in Bac Ninh is that the first three months are the peak time for recruitment in the manufacturing industry. That is the time for massive recruitment of manufacturing companies and many of them located in Bac Ninh. In spite of the high competition rate, it is still difficult for them to recruit many high skillful positions, such as Production manager, technical engineers, quality control engineers…” one representative of Vietnamworks said.
The Administrative/Secretary industry has the highest competition rate with 1/66. It means every candidate in this industry has to compete with other 60 candidates to have a new job. The 2nd position belongs to Accountant with 1/61. The rest of top 5 are Import/Export (1/56) – Manufacturing (1/51) and Health service/Biotechnology (1/47).
